There is a good news for government employees as the Akhilesh Yadav government will announce festival bonus of a minimum Rs 3000 for its employees after Dussera, an official said.
“After Central government ordered bonus for its employees, the state government is likely to follow suit and order festival bonus. The preparation has begun and the announcement is expected a week after Dussera,” the official said.
Approximately 15 lakh government employees and teachers will be benefited by the bonus scheme. Sources said that as per traditions adopted since the last several years, the eligible employees would get bonus equivalent to 30 days of their salary.
However, the bonus amount would be a minimum Rs 3,000, of which 50 per cent would be paid in cash and remaining 50 per cent would go in their Provident Fund account. The bonus would benefit all daily wage workers, employees of local civic bodies and employees of aided schools.
The official said that this exercise is likely to cost over Rs 350 crore to the state exchequer.
Earlier, the Union government had announced two years’ bonus for its 33 lakh employees and cleared bonus entitlement for 2014-15 and 2015-16.
